What is it
In Runningtherapy, we use running to improve physical and psychological fitness. You can think of somberness complaints, lethargy and study stress. The course is also intended for students who do not exercise (anymore) and want to get moving in a literal and figurative sense. As a result, Runningtherapy also contributes to a more positive self-image. Experience with running is not necessary. Under guidance, you learn to run regularly at your own pace.
Purpose of the course Runningtherapy
The goal is to use running to contribute to mental, psychological and physical well-being! You will also meet fellow students during this course.
Course structure
The course consists of a period of 5 weeks, with 3 running sessions per week. Twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) you train under the supervision of two physical therapy students who are supervised by a physical therapist/running therapist. In addition, you will train once a week without supervision, with your running group or alone, at a time of your choosing.
The run/distance will be built up in a responsible manner to prevent overuse injuries. It is therefore important that you are able to attend all classes during the 5 weeks.
Location
Running therapy is a collaboration between the RuG, Hanze and ACLO and is open to both RuG and Hanze University students. Classes are held from the Noorderplantsoen (meeting place: restaurant Sunday) and the ACLO Sports Centre. Make sure to wear running shoes and easy-fitting clothing/sportswear. There is no possibility for changing clothes in the Noorderplantsoen.
For more information, you can contact Rink Hooijsma: running therapist/physiotherapist, at r.hooijsma@rug.nl.
